Mahtab Hanna is currently undertaking a PhD in Jewellery at Central Saint Martins in London, having achieved an MA from the Royal College of Art, a BA (Hons) from Sir John Cass at London Metropolitan University, attended Post Graduate Studies at The Goldsmiths Centre (under the supervision of Dr Stuart Devlin), and completed a Diploma in Fine Art at the Hampstead School of Art.
Mahtab's attention to the finest of details, focus on her original ideas, and ceaseless strive for absolute quality are all the hallmarks of a true artist at work.
"Fashion, combined with the ability to impress one’s own ever changing and evolving demands, and exceeding the aspirations of the client, are major inspirations for me. I like to explore both the artificial and the natural elements of materials that I use, gelling hand-made with technology, to merge their inherent beauties, and, ultimately, to ensure my creations leave a lasting impression."
Ultimately, extending the experience of jewellery wearing is to challenge and ambush the boundaries of function and ornamented decorative art, highlighting communication, concluding with stimulating contemplation.
While creating each piece is a process and expression or development of a vision Mahtab has, jewellery is created for other people. It is important to remember this without compromising on the original vision throughout the design and creation process.
Part evolution, part revolution.
